Project Overview
The CFN FleetWide Site Locator App is designed to assist drivers in finding fuel and maintenance locations that accept CFN FleetWide when they need it most—on the road. This app provides an intuitive, search-powered interface, allowing users to quickly locate relevant business sites based on specific criteria. It is available across both mobile and desktop platforms, ensuring drivers can access critical information wherever they are.
Problem Statement and Approach
With the increasing reliance on mobile devices for navigation and location services, drivers need a seamless and efficient way to find fuel and maintenance locations. Before the app’s development, drivers often needed help with outdated or cumbersome methods for locating CFN FleetWide sites, such as printing directions or manually entering addresses into GPS devices. This lack of a streamlined, user-friendly solution led to frustration and inefficiencies on the road.
The design team and I conducted extensive user research to address this issue, including interviews with drivers, stakeholders, and managers. The goal was to understand the users’ pain points and needs, which guided the design of a user-centered application that prioritizes ease of use and accessibility. The team focused on integrating geolocation features, optimizing the search process, and ensuring the app provides accurate and up-to-date information about fuel prices and locations.
Solution
The CFN FleetWide Site Locator App offers a modern, user-friendly solution that leverages geolocation technology to enhance the user experience. Key features include:
– Search-Powered Locator: Users can easily find relevant locations by entering specific criteria such as location, radius, and fuel type.
– Geolocation Integration: The app automatically detects the user’s current location, eliminating manual input and making it incredibly convenient for mobile users.
– Up-to-date Information: The app displays only those merchant locations where a Fuelman transaction has been authorized within the last six months, and price information is shown if a transaction was approved in the previous seven days.
– Cross-Device Compatibility: Recognizing the shift towards mobile-first usage, the app is designed to work seamlessly across multiple devices. Users can share locations with friends or send directions from a desktop to their phone, ensuring a consistent experience.
This app not only meets drivers’ current needs but also anticipates future trends in user behavior by streamlining the transition between different devices and leveraging familiar external mapping tools like Google Maps. The result is a reliable, easy-to-use tool that significantly improves the on-the-road experience for CFN FleetWide users.
