Racetrac, Inc.

Project Overview:

RaceTrac, Inc. is a major American corporation operating a network of gasoline service stations across the Southern United States. With annual sales of $9.1 billion, RaceTrac is Georgia’s third-largest private company. Energy Dispatch, a subsidiary of RaceTrac, manages a fleet of over 95 trucks and more than 250 drivers, transporting over 1.5 billion gallons of fuel annually to RaceTrac and RaceWay convenience stores across six southeastern states.

Problem Statement and Approach:

Energy Dispatch’s existing dispatch software had become outdated, inefficient, and prone to frequent failures, forcing dispatch operators to rely on alternative methods for tracking fuel trucks. This not only hampered operational efficiency but posed significant risks to the timely and accurate fuel delivery.

The project aimed to redesign the legacy dispatch software to meet the evolving needs of RaceTrac’s operations. The primary objective was to create a user-friendly, reliable, and data-driven software application that would empower dispatchers to manage logistics more effectively. The approach included in-depth user research, analysis of existing workflows, and close collaboration with stakeholders to ensure the solution aligned with operational goals.

Solution:

Development of a new dispatch software system that supports the daily functions of RaceTrac’s logistics operations. The redesigned software streamlines the dispatching of various fuel grades from distribution yards to RaceTrac stores, ensuring orders are processed and delivered efficiently.

The design team also developed a suite of modular components and a consistent design language that enhances accessibility and inclusivity. The new system integrates seamlessly across all of RaceTrac and Energy Dispatch’s online and offline platforms, reflecting RaceTrac’s forward-thinking approach to logistics.

Additionally, the team created a series of abstract visuals to convey the technical and data-driven aspects of the dispatch operations, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to excellence. The result is a robust, scalable software solution that supports RaceTrac’s mission to build successful, sustainable, and data-driven operations.
